Tony Cini's Blues Explosion

Testimonials

Tony – “Genevieve Chadwick appeared on one of the first Blues Explosion bills in August 2009 at the Ulladulla Ex-Servos. Since that time, she has been invited to play at most of the major blues festivals in Australia including Byron Bay; was a finalist at the Telstra Road to Discovery Competition in 2012; and was also selected as one of only three Australian artists to become part of the global Playing For Change music project in 2013, which in turn saw her support Joan Armatrading and Ben Caplin on their Australian tours.”

“Tony Cini’s Blues Explosion is an epic live music and blues compilation project. It has introduced me to many great blues musicians and given us all a wider audience, fantastic live show opportunities and an incredible network of blues music lovers. Tony and Leah’s dedication and hard work in the scene has created a beautiful love child – Blues Explosion.”

Tony – “The compelling voice of Laura Zarb stopped me in my tracks at the 2012 Sydney Blues and Roots Festival. Earthy tones, infectious folky grooves, with thoughtful and inspiring songwriting and poignant guitar playing, Laura’s sparkling and energetic personality shines on stage. She is a star in the making.  We invited Laura to perform on a Blues Explosion bill in May 2013 supporting Melbourne based performers Lloyd Spiegel and Jesse Valach’s Blues Mountain.  She has since released her first album, Pink Plastic Spoon and is pursuing her dream of playing music full-time as a soloist and as a member of the folk trio called the Miss Chiefs. Laura will be included on the playlist of the Volume 5 CD.”

“I was just over at Graham Bird’s [craftsman and maker of handcrafted acoustic instruments] house yesterday and we were talking about you and Blues Explosion and how supportive you are of not just the big artists but also the ones like myself working on paving our own path through the music industry. I just wanted to say a big “thank you” for all the support you have given me so far! I am so grateful.”

Tony – “In 2009, we were looking for a local talent to support Gail Page and Jan Rynsaardt (Chase the Sun) on a Blues Explosion bill at Beaches Hotel, Thirroul, Wollongong when Leah came across the MySpace site of a young man called Kim Churchill who blew her away. At that time, Kim was unknown and we contacted him to see whether he would be interested in performing on the Blues Explosion bill not realising that he lived some 5 hours away south of Wollongong. On finding this out, we told him that our budget could not cover his travelling expenses but this did not stop him from accepting the gig.  So now the rest is history, Kim now travels the world performing at major festivals in Canada and Europe. He spends most of his time overseas and is revered worldwide for his guitar talents. Kim has performed at Woodford Folk Festival and the Byron Blues and Roots Festival, and most of the major festivals in Australia, and later this year, he will head back overseas and support Billy Bragg on his tour of Europe.”

“If you like good music and having a rockin’ good time, you’ll be blown away by a Blues Explosion gig. Tony Cini brings together an eclectic clutch of fine blues/rock musicians, singers, bands and performers.  Look at it this way – if you’ve booked to go to a Blues Explosion gig be it at a local pub or club, on a Blues Explosion Cruise or at a Blues Festival, you are in for a great time. If you’ve just left such an event you just know it’s been one of the best shows you’ve been to in yonks.  If you are really enjoying yourself right now, you must be at a Blues Explosion gig or playing one of the Blues Explosion CDs at home or in your car!  Tony Cini’s Blues Explosion … keeping the blues alive!”
